Life Experience Degree Universities

life experience degree

Life experience degrees first appeared in 1987 as a means of awarding individuals who have demonstrated core competencies of skill and knowledge in their prospective career field. The experience based on which these degrees are awarded can include anything from military service, prior unfinished or graduated college, certificates of achievement, professional development courses and workshops and much more.

There are numerous colleges and universities who award this kind of service and are capable of awarding you with a legal diploma, some accredited, most not. This has lead to a somewhat bad reputation because of all the degree mills turned life experience degree institutions over night, filling the industry with phony certificates.

If you’re in the process of searching for such a degree, keep a keen eye and research thoroughly before handing out your credit card to anyone. Compilled below is a short of Universities we know have life experience degree programs, along with our strictly personal opinion of the quality and effectiveness of these degrees. We don’t wish to suggest or recommend a service, but rather outline some options. Please do your own research so that you can find an institution that best fits your criterias.

Almeda University (founded 1997)

Degrees offered: Associate Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Master Degrees, and Certificate programs.

This is one of the “legit” institutions. The university actually intends on offering quality service for its graduates, as opposed to its money squeezing fellow institutions. The application form is exhaustive, many pages long, like it should be, so that you can eventually have your money’s worth.

Ashford University (founded 2005)

Degrese offered: GED, Associate Degree’s, Bachelor Degree’s, Master Degree’s, Doctorate, and High School Diploma.

They don’t have a privacy statement listed, which is always a no,no in my book. They also don’t use secure application forms, which begs the questions “who’s reading my data?”. Regarding accreditation, Ashford seems to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Ashwood University (???)

Degrees offered: Associate Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Master Degrees, Doctorate and High School Diploma.

This “university” also goes by the name of Belford University, Rochville University, Lorenz University, Hill University, which is pretty peculiar if you ask me. There is no privacy policy, but this isn’t the most alarming fact. There isn’t even an e-mail listed, let alone phone number. Low confidence for this service.

Belford University (founded 2003)

Degrees offered: Associate Degree’s, Bachelor Degree’s, Master Degree’s, Doctorate, and High School Diploma.

Operated by the same company with Ashwood. Same bogus privacy policy issue and little information displayed. What maybe most alarming is that the university is advertising accreditation by two boards which actually don’t exist, but most likely were fabricated by Belford  - Board of Online Universities Accreditation (BOUA), World Online Education Accrediting Commission (WOEAC).

Breyer State University (founded 2004)

Degrees offered: Associate Degree’s, Bachelor Degree’s, Master Degree’s, Doctorate, and High School Diploma.

They university has a privacy policy and certifies that they don’t disclose their graduates’ details. The website, at a glance, is rather confusing. Breyer State University also offeres a way for employers to validate the degrees offered to Alumnis.

Concordia College & University (founded 2000)

Degrees offered: Associate degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Master/MBA degrees and Doctor/PH.D.

They have a privacy policy, along as secure application forms, up and running. However they seem to offer about any kind of degree, even PH.D’s, to right about just anyone. Not the best sign.

Suffield University (founded 2002)

Degrees offered: Associate Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Master Degrees, Doctor of Education and Doctor of Ministry.

Suffield University has a privacy policy, however the application forms are not secured. They also have a phone number listed, which is rather a rarity in the slew of life experience program offering institutions. They also have Alumni servicing, which is a great plus.
